Blue Canyon Technologies announces the appointment of Karen McConnell as Chief Engineering Officer

Lafayette, Colorado, July 26, 2021–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Small satellite manufacturer and mission services provider Blue Canyon Technologies LLC (“BCT” or “Blue Canyon”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies, announced today that it has appointed Karen McConnell as its Executive Director of Engineering.

McConnell’s primary responsibility is to manage the performance, reliability, and delivery schedules of Blue Canyon’s total product line. It will also direct the implementation of program performance improvement efforts, which will streamline BCT implementation and improve operational efficiency. In addition, McConnell will oversee the continued development of the Saturn class microsate production line, helping Blue Canyon maintain its innovative advantage in the ever-changing field of microsatellites.

Prior to joining Blue Canyon, McConnell worked at Ball Aerospace, TRW (now Northrop Grumman), and AeroAstro LLC, where she was first introduced to work with small satellites. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Aeronautical, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Master’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Stanford University.
