Graphic designers primarily use digital software and sometimes art supplies to create visually appealing designs and final designs that convey the intended message.
Graphic designers are artists who master design software. In addition to understanding design principles, a graphic designer must have excellent communication skills, such as communication and problem-solving skills, to communicate effectively with clients and other design colleagues. Creating visuals is only half the battle. Graphic designers need to know how to present their work to stakeholders and communicate their ideas convincingly.
A graphic design career for people with a lot of imagination and creativity. The job requires candidates to understand color theory, typography and typesetting and to use graphic design tools and software effectively. You can gain this knowledge by earning a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital media design, or communication design, or by taking online graphic design courses.
Graphic designers have many transferable skills that can help them move into relevant roles such as UX or UI designer or web developer, or be promoted to an art director or creative director role.

UX design, or user experience design, is the process of creating products and experiences that help users do what they came to do – as efficiently and effectively as possible.
But what is user experience? In short, user experience is how users feel when they interact with your product. This concept applies to physical objects and everyday experiences, such as using a coffee maker or buying a car at a dealership; but it also applies to the digital side of life – think back to the last time you used a banking app to transfer money, buy something online or even play a game on your phone.

How each of these applications or websites is designed, combined with your needs and goals when interacting with them, creates the user experience. Sometimes it’s a really great experience; sometimes, not so much.
UX design is the process of understanding and empathizing with the real needs and goals of your users, immersing yourself in that user experience, identifying problems (often called “pain points”), and finding solutions that will lead to improved user experience.
Good UX design often flies right under your radar – unless it’s just an excellent experience, if the UX is good, you don’t notice. Everything works as it should. But bad UX? You will notice this every time, and the chances are that you will not be very interested in repeating your experience with this product.
Although the demand for UX designers continues to grow, UX design is not just a brand new concept formulated to meet the demands of the ever-evolving technology industry. It has a rich history based on the design of everyday things.
What’s A Graphic Design Major? (courses & Requirements)
Some of the most basic principles of UX can be traced back to 4000 BC. in the ancient Chinese philosophy of Feng Shui, which focuses on arranging your environment in the most optimal, harmonious or user-friendly way. There is also evidence that as early as the 5th century BC, ancient Greek civilizations were designing their tools and workplaces based on ergonomic principles.
In the late 19th century, great thinkers and industrialists such as Frederick Winslow Taylor and Henry Ford began to integrate the basic principles of experience design into their production processes. In an effort to make human labor more efficient, Taylor conducted extensive research into the interaction between workers and their tools—just as UX designers today study how users interact with products and services.
Another key figure in the history of UX is the industrial engineer Henry Dreyfuss, who wrote one of the earliest books in the UX design canon: Designing for People (1955).
Don Norman then joined the Apple team as the first user experience architect, making him the first person to hold a UX title. He coined the term user experience design, wrote another important book on UX design, The Design of Everyday Things (1988), and co-founded the Nielsen Norman Group.
Top 9 Graphic Design Jobs And Who’s Hiring
For centuries, people have sought to optimize their environment for maximum user comfort. And over time, this focus on design has evolved and adapted to the digital age, which brings us back to the demand for UX designers in the tech world.
Guided by the design thinking process (more on that later), the UX designer understands and supports the needs and goals of the user.
This process begins with empathy. UX designers engage with users and try to understand what interests them and what they really need from a product or experience. This is called user research, and it comprises most of the empathy phase of the process.
The next step is to clearly define what problems, needs and goals users have that the product can potentially solve or help users achieve. This naturally leads to the ideation stage, where UX designers actively brainstorm possible solutions to the problems they have identified. This idea can take many forms, but it is not unlike brainstorming
