Cut and Paste and Copy and Paste on the iPad are almost identical, with a few small but important differences.

To cut and paste instead of copying and pasting, simply select “Cut” from the context menu item that appears when you select text as described above.

Remember, when you use Cut and Paste, you are cutting the data from the source and moving it to the pasted location. Cut differs from copy in that it “cuts” from the original position, while copy is simply copied.

Note that you can only “clip” text, images, or data from a selected editable source, such as a dynamic document, email, or message thread. A static option enables the “copy” function because it cannot be changed, like a web page in Safari.

There’s another great copy, cut and paste feature that’s exclusive to the iPad, and it uses the virtual on-screen keyboard.

IPad users can paste any information from the clipboard using the keyboard’s Paste tool, which is available by tapping the small button removed and then selecting the square that overlaps the clipboard icon.
