The home won several awards including People’s Choice Best of Show and Realtor’s Choice – Best Curb Appeal at the 2004 Portland Street of Dreams. Artful use of stone is used on the exterior of this rustic mountain home to complement other architectural features such as the angular, oversized four-car garage and large roof. The floor plan features a vaulted great room as its hub, anchored by a large stone fireplace at one end and a formal dining area at the other. A built-in media player and double doors separate the great room from its own closet and built-in home office. The kitchen (with walk-in pantry and snack-bar counter) opens to a skylit outdoor kitchen. Its installation includes a kitchen and a fireplace. Unused programs may not be trademarked, defaced or copied. Packages containing electronically delivered home plans – including PDF and CAD files – are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. All paper order exchanges are subject to a 20% fee for printing and shipping.
The design of your structure to the base code must meet certain requirements. The Code allows for several methods of meeting these requirements. The first method is called “prescriptive” wall bracing and is constructed as a building material prescribed in the code, which must be included at specified points of the building. Teaching methods are acceptable as long as the design of the structure fits within certain parameters (wall height, window size/area, etc.). The second method is to show, through engineering analysis, the forces imposed on the structure and the design of structures to withstand those forces. While the prescriptive approach imposes certain constraints on building design, engineering analysis of a building allows greater flexibility in design while ensuring that it can withstand the real forces of nature it encounters.
