Republicans set President Biden on fire over a recent report that tens of thousands of immigrants were caught illegally crossing the border without court appointments, the vast majority of whom did not turn up at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as directed.
Axios reported Tuesday that the Biden administration has released 50,000 illegal immigrants to the United States, with only 13% of them showing up to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials they are supposed to meet.
Axios noted that the Biden administration’s decision to release illegal immigrants to the United States without notice to appear in court is an unprecedented step. Instead, immigrants are given a list of ICE office addresses and contacts, and asked to go to one.
Stephen Miller, a previous adviser to previous President Trump, told Fox News in an exclusive statement Tuesday that the report “is only the tip of the iceberg of the data we need.”
“But again, that’s all there is, a snapshot. We need all the data on this administration’s catch and release policy,” Miller continued. “Every part of it, so that we are fully accountable and can have packed public awareness.”
Miller said that “we shouldn’t have to donate up these snippets and smash them in order to get these little snippets leaking into the stories” and we said sarcastically as if “even though providing this information to the public is without the dignity of the Biden administration.”
“They have a positive obligation and a duty to inform and guide the American public about what they are doing on behalf of the public, with public taxpayer resources, and with public resources,” Miller said. “We all welcome every time a spill occurs that could start to shed some additional light on this border-opening scheme.”
“The government itself needs to publish official data regarding the extent, scope and spread of catch and release across the southwestern border of the United States,” he added.
A big number of Republicans shared the alike sentiment, with Rep. August Pfluger, a Texas Republican, called the border crisis a “whole disaster” and called on President and Vice President Harris to secure the border.
Senator Tom Cotton, R-Ark, also weighed in on Twitter, writing that “[c]atch and release is Biden’s official policy and he accused the administration of “trying to infiltrate through a blanket amnesty.”
“The #BidenBorderCrisis is no longer a border situation issue,” a representative. Lisa McClain, from Michigan, tweeted. “The illegal aliens who are flocking to our borders are coming to a town near you.”
Other Republicans tore up the president, too.
The crisis on the southern border continues to intensify as critics grow louder regarding the Biden administration’s handling of the issue.
The White House did not respond to a Fox News request for comment.
