Surfing: Australian Owen Wright wins bronze!
American swimming star Lily King has criticized the media for allegedly misrepresenting her words and said her Australian competitors, who are currently tied with the United States in swimming medal tally with three gold medals, are “swimming well”.
King sparked controversy ahead of Tokyo 2020 when she expressed her belief that an American woman could triumph every single gold medal at the Tokyo Aquatics Center. With five women’s individual medals race so far, the Australians have claimed two golds, while the USA, Canada and Japan have taken one.
But King declined a reporter’s interrogate on Wednesday following she took bronze in the women’s 100m breaststroke.
She said, “I feel like this quote has been misrepresented… and I’ve commented on it ever since.” “I said I thought the Americans could triumph a gold medal for everyone. All I was saying was I believe in my team and I think we have a pleasing chance of swimming well. But that was twisted. The Australians swim just fine.”
