Street. Lewis — Tommy Adman drove three runs with a base-loaded double chariot, and Wade LeBlanc made 5 2/3 powerful innings and raced the St. The Louis Cardinals defeated the Minnesota Twins 5-1 on Friday night.
LeBlanc achieved the highest level of the season in the innings played. He worked from jamming loaded bases alone in the fourth round, and stranded six base players in the first four rounds.
“That was a big fourth when he was competent to get off the loaded bases, one out,” Cardinals manager Mike Schilt said. “He did a really distinguished job, keeping his composure and playing the pitches.”
Ryan Hillsley (6-4) made 1 1/3 runs from a goalless rest. Giovanni Gallegos and Alex Reyes finished eighth and ninth, respectively.
“Obviously I want to triumph (LeBlanc), but we want our team to triumph first and foremost,” said Scheldt. “I wish we’d been competent to stretch out a little earlier.”
LeBlanc is still looking for his first triumph in 10 matches with the Cardinals.
“I don’t concern at all,” LeBlanc said. “For me, my job is to donate us a chance to triumph the match, donate the offense a chance to score kicks. So, at the end of the day, the ‘W’ in our column is what I’m going to do.”
Edman’s double broke Edman rules from Tyler Duffy (2-3) to a 1-all tie in the sixth, hitting the rotten right streak prior entering the corner. It was Edman’s second game for the RBI this season, and his first since May 19 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
“I wasn’t necessarily looking for it (the knuckle curve), but I think once I got into this court, I considerate of saw it come out of the hand, I was like, ‘Okay, that’s better hits,’” Addiction said.
Nolan Arenado added the RBI song at number seven. He has hit safely in eight of his final nine matches.
Griffin Jax, who was recalled from Triple-A St. Prior to the game, Paul only allowed two hits in five runs at the height of the season. His only drawback was conceding a fly-away to Harrison Bader who netted Tyler O’Neill fourth.
“Griffin came in and did a distinguished job,” said Rocco Baldeli, director of the twins. “He seemed very relaxed. He was focused. We didn’t desert him by us when we call his name so late and send them there to play.”
Andrelton Simmons cut the 0-for-9 streak with a single from RBI that gave the twins a 1-0 lead per second.
Paul Goldschmidt collected 1,500 times with one song at number six.
Prior to the game, the Twins and Cardinals completed a business deal in which Minnesota sent LHP JA Happ and monetary considerations to St. Lewis vs. RHP John Gant and LHP lesser league Evan Sisk. The Hub will slip into the Cardinals’ starting rotation, while the Gantt will reinforce the base of the Twins.
ROSTER . MOVES
Both teams were active on the trade deadline.
The twins traded All Star RHP José Berríos twice for the Toronto Blue Jays for a pair of prospects, and RHP Hansel Robles for the Boston Red Sox for another prospect. They also claimed Edgar Garcia of the Cincinnati Reds and summoned LHP Charlie Barnes of Triple-A St. Pee.
The Cardinals acquired LHP Jon Lester of the Washington Nationals in exchange for OF Lane Thomas, and recalled Lars Nootbaar of Triple-A Memphis.
Twins: Josh Donaldson (tight right hamstring) was a late scratcher from the starting lineup.
Cardinals: RHP Miles Mikolas (right forearm narrow) threw four goal-free runs, allowing only three hits while hitting two and walking one in rehab in Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.
RHP twins Bailey Ober (1-1, 5.19 ERA) will start in the second of a three-game streak against RHP Jake Woodford (2-2, 4.25 ERA) and the Cardinals on Saturday night. Uber exits 5 innings 1/3 lofty in not making a decision against the Los Angeles Angels on July 25. Woodford suffered his first loss as a senior player at the start of the league, giving up three runs in five rounds in Cincinnati on July 24.
