Understanding Operating Systems for PC or Laptop Having You

Published

on

Also be careful when installing operating systems that are incompatible with your existing hardware. Macintosh computer hardware is very different from Windows computer hardware and under no circumstances will a Windows operating system run on a Macintosh computer!

Every new computer you bring home from the store comes with an operating system installed. But what most new computer users dont realize is that without an operating system a computer is just a shell full of possibilities. When you turn on your computer without an operating system you see only confusing text messages explaining the computer boot process. At the end of the process the computer searches for the operating system and if not found asks the user to indicate where it is.

Early computers didnt have an operating system and if youve been using computers since the early 80s youll remember that most computers didnt even have hard drives! This old computer booted an MS-DOS style operating system from drivers stored on a floppy disk and to use the program the user removed the boot floppy and inserted a new floppy containing the program. A floppy disk holds not only the program (spreadword word processor etc.) but also the drivers needed for the program to communicate with the computer hardware. As you can imagine the arduous process of changing from a floppy disk to a floppy disk led to the birth of the operating system.

An operating system is a software program that controls how the computers hardware (and installed software) works. It manages the activity of each component and then displays that activity as a user friendly interface (GUI). It keeps track of where it is on the computers hard drive. But perhaps most important to the end user is the operating system which is responsible for translating the commands issued by the keyboard and mouse into binary code (content 010110101) that can communicate with the speakers printers scanners and many others.

When an operating system is installed on a computers hard drive the user does not need to boot the computer from a floppy disk or run programs from the floppy disk. All program drivers are stored on your computer and used every time the program starts.

The Apple Macintosh was the first of a pair of computer systems to establish user-to-hardware communication through a user-friendly interface. Today we have many operating systems. Windows Vista Mac OS X ZETA IBM Unix and Linux are the most popular. But operating systems are still used in non-computer devices such as game consoles portable music players and PDAs. The operating system installed on any device serves the same purpose across the board: to enable user-to-hardware communication.

When you think about upgrading your computer to a new operating system, be careful to make sure that you have the necessary hardware components. We tried to upgrade one of our Windows 98 machines to Windows XP, but we were cautioned that the former may not be hardware compatible with XP technology. Apparently, the Windows XP operating system requires components that weren’t developed at the time Windows 98 was distributed and if we were to install Windows XP on this machine anyway, the new operating system would look for hardware that the computer didn’t have. And that would be an instant recipe for failure.

Your Android is very slow, so consider the following explanation

When an Android device runs slow, it means that it’s taking longer than usual to perform tasks or respond to user input. This can be frustrating for users and can make the device difficult or unpleasant to use.

There are several factors that can contribute to slow performance on an Android device, including:

  1. Running too many apps in the background: When too many apps are running in the background, they can use up system resources like CPU and RAM, which can slow down the device.
  2. Low storage space: When there is little storage space left on the device, it can cause slow performance because the device has to work harder to manage files and data.
  3. Outdated software: Older versions of Android may not run as smoothly on newer hardware, leading to slower performance.
  4. Software bugs or issues: Sometimes software bugs or issues can cause slow performance. These issues can be fixed with software updates or patches.
  5. Overheating: If your device gets too hot, it may slow down performance to prevent damage to the device.
  6. Malware or viruses: Malware or viruses can affect performance by using up system resources, causing apps to crash or run slowly.
  7. Hardware issues: Sometimes hardware issues like a damaged battery, a malfunctioning CPU or RAM, or a damaged storage device can cause slow performance.
  8. Running too many widgets or live wallpapers: Running too many widgets or live wallpapers can use up system resources, leading to slower performance.

To improve the performance of your Android device, you can perform procedures such as closing background apps, clearing app cache and data, disabling or uninstalling unused apps, restarting your phone, updating operating system and apps, and freeing up storage space. If all else fails, you may need to consider upgrading to a newer device.

So, to overcome this slow Android, I will provide tips and tricks for dealing with slow Android

  1. Clear app cache and data: Go to Settings > Apps > Select the app > Storage > Clear Cache and Clear Data. This will free up storage space and may improve the performance of the app.
  2. Disable or uninstall unused apps: If there are apps on your phone that you don’t use, it’s best to disable or uninstall them. This will free up storage space and system resources.
  3. Use a performance-boosting app: There are many apps available in the Google Play Store that claim to boost your phone’s performance. Some of these apps can be helpful, but be cautious and do your research before installing one.
  4. Clear storage space: If your phone is running low on storage space, it can slow down performance. Delete old files, photos, and apps you don’t use to free up space.
  5. Restart your phone: Restarting your phone can help free up system resources and may improve performance.
  6. Update your operating system and apps: Make sure to install the latest software updates for your phone and apps. These updates can include performance improvements and bug fixes.
  7. Disable animations: Disabling animations can make your phone feel faster. Go to Settings > Developer options > Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale. Set each of these to “Animation off”.
  8. Factory reset your phone: If all else fails, you can try a factory reset to wipe your phone clean and start fresh. Make sure to back up your important data before doing so.

The following are tips and tricks so that your Android is not slow and always upgrades knowledge about your Android
